After that you will be transferred by an air-conditioned vehicle to Cairo, approx. 3 hours, with a stop if needed to have a rest. Start your tour in Cairo enjoying a visit to the Giza Pyramids. You will see the great pyramids of Giza - Cheops, Chephren and Mycerinus. While listening to your Egyptologist, you will have a memorable time that you would never forget. Next, you will be able to enjoy the panoramic view of the Giza Plateau, where you can see all pyramids and take awesome pictures for all the pyramids together in one marvelous shot. Afterwards, you proceed to explore the Citadel of Saladin & the Mosque of Mohamed Ali. Near the end of the Fatimid Caliphate (969 – 1178 CE), the Muslim ruler of Damascus struggled with the Crusaders to protect the Holy Lands & Jerusalem, Therefore, he sent one of his followers, Saladin, to control Egypt and to put an end to the Fatimid Caliphate. This is in addition to getting Egypt back to the Sunni doctrine of Islam. Saladin managed to do this and became the Caliph himself (1174 CE). Saladin decided to build a Citadel to defend Cairo against any potential attack. The Citadel became the seat of the government for decades afterwards, until another Egyptian King, "Mohamed Ali", decided to build a mosque and a mausoleum for himself, in (1831 CE). Mohamed Ali was the founder of modern Egypt and the last Royal family of Egypt. His mosque at the citadel is a distinctive piece of art and architecture.
Lunch will be served in a local restaurant. You continue your tour in Cairo by exploring Coptic Cairo to visit the Hanging Church, one of the oldest and most marvelous in Egypt, Ben Ezra Synagogue, Church of St. Barbara, and Church of Abu Serga. You will be transferred back to your Cruise Ship in Alexandria for Final departure.
